Croptracker recently released a new feature available to all our users on our reports called ‘SearchPanes’. Because this feature is potentially helpful to all our users, we have decided to drop a mini use case and help illuminate how and when to use it.

Where are SearchPanes?

The ‘Search Panes’ feature is available in three main places in Croptraker reporting:

How to use SearchPanes?

To help illustrate how and why you might use SearchPanes, we will walk through an example for each location.

In report data tables:

In some Croptracker reports, SearchPanes effectively creates more filtering options. For example, the Harvest Inventory Report contains only two filters on the right hand side, ‘Date Range’ and a location filter (‘Filter Block’). When the report is generated however, it contains many more columns than filtering options. Using search panes, the report can be limited further by Unit Type, Amount, etc. In the short video below you can see we will limit the inventory table to only lettuce harvested into lugs, removing the inventory harvested into totes.

It is important to note that not all report columns will necessarily generate a search pane. Only columns with more than one of the same result within it will generate a SearchPane to enable grouping on that result. For example, there will likely never be a ‘Scan Code’ SearchPane option as all Scan Codes are unique.

In report and spray location selection filters:

The SearchPane location selection filter must first be enabled in your Croptracker account by an Admin level user on the browser. Under the ‘Farm Manager’ menu in the top left select ‘Profile’. When on this screen, select ‘Preferences’ on the left hand side of the screen and toggle on the last preference in the list. Now when you access any report with a location filter, or use Spray on the browser, you will have access to the SearchPane location selection.

The benefit of this location selection filter over the default is that you can search and select farm nodes using more Field Map properties. A search pane will be generated for the following fields:

This feature was added to better support our high-rotation annual crop growers who perform sprays on many small beds at once, grouped by their expected date of harvest. The short video below will show a location selection on a spray event limited to rows with the same Estimated Harvest Date.

On the Punch Clock Admin screen:

On the Punch Clock Admin screen, the original call for this feature was to be able to group worklogs with the same property that needed editing, and to be able to select and edit them all at once. For example, if a supervisor incorrectly logged the end time for the crew being supervised, the manager reviewing the worklogs before payroll will limit the list of worklogs to just this set using the end time SearchPane, and will now bulk adjust them all.
